On Tuesday England cricketer Haseeb Hameed was guest of honour at Cedar Mount to launch a new community club – Wicketz. Pupils were fortunate to take part in a masterclass with Haseeb and colleague Mo who mentored them in a session to hone their skills, later they demonstrated the difficult ‘cover drive’ and offered hints on how to improve their technique on the field. A lively Q & A session followed where Haseeb was asked how he became a champion, who inspired him, what age did he start playing and how long he would he be out of the first team following is recent injury.

The club launches between 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Monday the 6th November and is free. Boys and girls with a genuine interest in cricket are welcome to come and train with the best.

For more information on the programme please contact Howard Shore, Senior Cricket Activator on or 07834 416264. Pupils attending Cedar Mount can obtain more information from Miss Bennett in the PE department.
