The 2016 Let in the Stars Festival on Saturday the 17th December at Longsight Library in conjunction with Manchester Book Trust was an even greater success than last year. Arriving early on Saturday morning there was a flurry of activity setting up countless stalls and hanging more bunting than you could throw a stick at. At 1.00 the Lord Mayor officially opened the Festival and the fun began! During the term pupils from Cedar Mount, Stanley Grove and Rushbrook had been working on a cross trust poetry competition and the winners presented their piece on stage at the Pakistani Community Centre to a packed house.
The highlight of the day was when dark descended, we set off on the parade to the sound of Emma Martin shouting ‘make some noise’ with the lanterns, stars and rockets children designed by the children, it was a truly breath taking site as families weaved their way through Lonsight to the Pakistani Centre. Tired, cold and elated we had an amazing day!
A big thanks to Kay from the Children’s Book Festival, volunteers from MCC and staff from Jodrell Bank and Longsight Library the staff were so attentive. I think the final thanks goes Emma who along with her dedicated team of staff at Stanley Grove made the day happen and was the real star of the day!
