On Monday Miss Watson took a group of Y10 students to United Utilities to get an insight into what it’s like to work at the company. When they arrived they were taken to the ICT & Marketing Department and quizzed employees about their day to day job and the type of training opportunities available, this was followed by a tour of the science labs where pupils experienced what went on behind the scenes.
Entering Y10 is a crucial time in their education and usually when students begin preparing for life after school, therefore staff presented a lively Q & A session and talked about the benefits of kicking off a career with an apprenticeship. The final part of the day pupils were split into groups and asked to design an app which they later pitched to a panel of judges in a Dragons Den style competition.
Everyone enjoyed the day – including the United Utilities staff who did a tremendous job in putting on the activities.
